    A good choice —
I wanted to replace an 18 year old Weight Watchers bathroom scale with one that was much more accurate. This “eatsmart” PrecisionPlus Bathroom Scale was a fair price and after several days of use, I think it is accurate and easy to use. I like the fact that you just step on the scale to activate it. The width makes it easy to step on and voila! your weight is presented in large, easy to read, lighted numbers. Based on price and functionality, I believe this was a good choice. It looks good, too, in my bathroom. I bought the gray/silver color.

    Exceptional Product
I bought this scale based on its features and excellent reviews here and after looking around extensively at a variety of scales, their feaures, and their reviews. I have had this scale for just 2 months now so I can’t speak to long term reliability, just current performance and usability. So far, it is easily one of the best items I have purchased and a very good value for the money at the price I paid of $36.95 w/free shipping on Amazon. Great accuracy and precision. Very good size. Excellent easy to read display. Wide range of measureable weights to the nearest 0.2 pounds. Excellent customer service with follow up email by the seller to be sure that I was happy with it and having no problems.First, I should say that I set up the scale in a flat area (as recommended) on linoleum. I compared it to my old spring scale and it was within a pound or two. (The old scale was a well rated spring scale that despite an XL dial was hard to read, never fully stabilized for a clear precise read, and was difficult to get full foot placement despite the scales XL size). I also compared it on one occasion to my weight at the doctor’s office and it was within a pound.I tried getting on and off repeatedly on a number of occasions immediately or within several minutes after it gave a weight and reset and it always gives the same weight so it clearly gives consistent readings (as long as I do nothing that changes my weight between readings). Another reviewer suggested that it was programmed to repeat the same weight if remeasured within a certain period, so I experimented. On numerous occasions I would weigh myself and than immediately drink varying amounts water or take a dump and weigh myself again and my weight would change in increments of 0.2 pounds that appeared to reflect these weight changes. It also easily showed my water weight changes after an hour or more of sweating exercise – which could be as much as three pounds.I did not try to confirm with known weights whether the scale is accurate throughout its range up to 440 pounds but it seems to be accurate in my weight range, which on this scale has been between 220 to 240 pounds. I did test the lower range with hand weights. With a 2 pound weight on either side (to represent small feet to the sensors) each time it registered 0.0, so it appears it won’t register weights of 4 pounds or less. When I tried a 3 pound weight on either side it did register 6.0 pounds exactly so I assume that this is its lower limit and that it is reasonably accurate at lower weights and would also be a good scale for children.I do like the size of the scale although I would have preferred a bit more length. I have size 13 (US) feet and have to position my feet carefully on the scale so that my heel and toes are fully on (I have about a spare 1/4″ front and rear). If you have feet larger than size 14 (US) you might have to have your toes extend over the front of the scale and keep your weight between your heels and the balls of your feet. The width is more than adequate for just about anyone. Good luck trying to find a larger household scale anywhere. The large attractive blue backlit display is perfect with nice large numbers with good contrast that are very easy to see in any light. The display also stays on for about 10 seconds after you get off the scale so that if you have a large amount of belly fat that gets in the way of seeing the display while you are on it (or have really bad eyesight) you have plenty of time to view the reading after you get off it.About 6 weeks after the scale arrived the company sent an email asking me to contact them if I had any problems with the scale, included a summary of best practices for operating the scale, provided a support contact number and requested feedback on Amazon. Since it has been such and exceptional item I thought it well worth the time in putting in a review.

    Great, simple scale!
Updated Review: June 9, 2015I bought my third EatSmart in May, 2015. I was going on a trip to my son’s home 1400 miles away and forgot to take my scale with me. So, I ordered it on Amazon from my hotel room one morning while I was enroute. Because he lives in Seattle where Amazon is located, the scale was amazingly delivered around 7pm that same day. I used it for two weeks while I was there and left it for when we visit again. This is a truly improved version of the EatSmart scale. It is much sturdier, does not squeak as the earlier version did, and seems to be less prone to reading changes brought on by the user’s slight movement while weighing. This version of the scale is a little larger also. It also accommodates users up to 440 pounds according to the packaging. Please note: when you put it down the first time, it will display a reading around five pounds. Do not touch it. In about 15 seconds it will display a “C.” Again, do not touch it. In a few more seconds, it will recalibrate itself to zero and be ready to use. Also, all versions of this scale do not report a new weight when you step off the scale, remove items of clothing, and step back on the scale.Original Review Below:I have had this EatSmart scale in my summer cabin in Colorado for over a year and love it. We recently returned to Arizona and I ordered a second EatSmart scale for our winter home there because I like the first one so much. This is a simple, elegant, functional scale. It just weighs you and displays your weight in large, readable, backlit numbers you can read even in a dark room.In Arizona, I am replacing a fancy scale which stored weights and BMI for four people and displayed the change since the last usage. I had two knee replacements this year and the BMI function in the fancy scale no longer worked because of that. Plus it felt weird to have that scale sending pulses through the metal in my new knees while trying to compute BMI. Also, the fancy scale flashed so many numbers, I had trouble trying to figure out what I weighed.Yes, the EatSmart scale needs to be on a flat surface to work well, but that is true for any scale which weighs accurately. Some folks have mentioned that if you weigh yourself on the EatSmart scale, get off and remove a piece of clothing, and then weigh yourself again, the weight displayed will not change. I tested this and found that to be true only if the item removed was very light. My only (minor) complaint about this new EatSmart scale in Arizona is that the plastic on the underside, which holds the glass platform, makes a squeaking noise when I step on it, which the EatSmart scale in Colorado does not do. If it did not squeak, I would give this five stars.

    Elegant, sturdy and precise
This scale is slim and elegant. The display flashes when it’s done, and it holds the reading for at least 15 seconds after you step off. That’s great if you have some extra weight up front that makes it a bit harder to look down to see your weight (ahem). The numbers are large and well-lit, so you don’t have to be wearing your glasses to read your weight first thing in the morning. The scale is very sturdy. It’s larger and heavier than my previous metal digital scale, so I know it will last longer and stay accurate. Also, you don’t have to tap it with your foot to get it started. Just step on it and go!

Nice scale! It’s simple and easy to use. I doesn’t have a lot of stupid options that no one ever uses, you don’t have to do anything to make it work except put the batteries in and step on. It just gives you your weight when you step on it. Period. Exactly what I wanted. I can even make the dog sit on it if I want to know how much Kaypo weighs.I was thrilled when I lost five pounds the first day – it seems the scale needs to recalibrate after first set up, and my weight fluctuated for the first four or five times I got on, each time downward. I don’t suppose it will keep that up, too bad.And the scale itself is nice and wide with gripping feet that don’t slide. Easy to stand on even for me with poor balance.

This is the 2nd time buying this scale, I had one for years and it started glitching so I decided to buy another one because it’s served me so well for so long. I received it broken and I can’t return it. I’m so sad, what a waste of money.

The perfect bathroom scale. No messing around with all unnecessary set ups. When I step on shows me my weight in large digits – that’s all I ever wanted.
